Rolex 14000 is a real reference number. It is the Oyster Perpetual Date: a 34 mm steel case, sapphire crystal, and the caliber 3135 automatic movement. Rolex built it from about 1988 to 2001. A genuine used example sells for about $4,000 to $6,000 in the US market as of 2025.
Two groups search "fake rolex 14000." One group wants a counterfeit of that reference. The other reads 14000 as a budget: $14,000. A $14,000 budget is far above the market price of a used ref. 14000.
Counterfeit Rolex watches are illegal to sell, import, or traffic in the United States. There is no legal channel for them.
Why this reference gets copied
The 14000 is a plain steel three-hand watch with a date. A steel case and a simple dial are cheaper to replicate than a gold case or a chronograph. Demand for the Rolex name does the rest.
Copies fall into rough tiers. Quartz versions cost less than $100. Mid-tier copies use modified third-party movements. The "super clone" tier uses a movement built to look like the caliber 3135.
Checks on a genuine 14000
- Case: 34 mm Oyster case in steel. Lug shape and crown guards match the production year.
- Movement: caliber 3135, 31 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, bidirectional winding.
- Dial: coronet at 12, date window at 3, printed "ROLEX" and "OYSTER PERPETUAL DATE" text.
- Numbers: reference and serial stamps sit between the lugs, at 12 and at 6.
- Crystal: many 14000 examples predate the laser-etched coronet at 6 o'clock, which Rolex added around 2001 to 2002. Its absence is not proof of a fake.
No single check settles authenticity. Case, dial, movement, and paperwork get judged together.
Legal status in the US
18 U.S.C. 2320 makes trafficking in counterfeit goods a federal crime. A first offense carries up to 10 years in prison. U.S. Customs and Border Protection seizes counterfeit watches at ports of entry. The personal-use exemption for trademarked goods does not cover counterfeits. Reselling a counterfeit watch is a separate offense from buying one.
Clone claims
"1:1" and "Swiss super clone" have no accepted definition and no independent testing behind them. No counterfeit watch holds resale value. Rolex does not sell watches online and does not publish a list of fakes. Any seller that claims to be an authorized dealer for a counterfeit is making a false claim.
