A fake Lady-Datejust copies the outline. It does not copy the metal, the movement, or the finishing. Genuine cases use 18k gold or 904L Oystersteel. Replica cases use 316L steel with gold plating that measures 2 to 5 microns thick. The genuine Caliber 2236 runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and carries Rolex Superlative Chronometer certification at -2 to +2 seconds per day. Replica movements are Chinese or Swiss-clone calibers with no certification and no parts support from Rolex.

Case and metal
- Genuine: Oystersteel (904L), 18k yellow gold, 18k Everose gold, or 18k white gold. Two-tone Rolesor models use solid 18k gold bezels, crowns, and center links.
- Replica: 316L steel base with gold plating or PVD coating. Plating wears at the crown, clasp, and bracelet edges. Base metal shows through at wear points.
- Genuine case backs are solid and flat. No display back exists on this model.
Bezel and bracelet
The genuine fluted bezel is cut from solid 18k gold, then polished by hand. The Jubilee bracelet has five-piece links with polished center links and satin outer links. Genuine center links are solid gold on Rolesor models. Replica bracelets use plated or hollow links, and the clasp stamping depth differs from the factory cut.

Genuine sapphire crystals carry a laser-etched coronet at 6 o'clock, applied since 2002. The cyclops magnifier is 2.5x, with anti-reflective coating under the lens. Date wheels sit square in the window and change at midnight. Replica crystals show a visible etched coronet at eye level, a 2x magnifier, and a blue haze from a surface coat. Water resistance
Genuine Lady-Datejust models rate at 100 m / 330 ft with a Twinlock crown and screw-down case back. Replica gaskets are thin, and many crowns do not seal. Water test results vary by unit, and most replicas fail at 3 ATM.
Service and value
Rolex services genuine watches through its own network. Replicas get no service from Rolex and no access to factory parts. A genuine Lady-Datejust holds resale value.
