A. Lange & Sohne does not list a Lange 1 with reference number 206.025 in its published catalogs. The number appears on replica seller sites. A watch sold under that number is a copy of the Lange 1, not a watch made in Glashutte, Germany.

What the real Lange 1 is

The Lange 1 launched in 1994. It uses an off-center dial layout and an outsize date. Published specs:

  • Case: 38.5 mm diameter, 9.8 mm thick, in 18k rose gold, 18k white gold, 18k yellow gold, or platinum.
  • Movement: hand-wound, made in-house. Current caliber L121.1.
  • Power reserve: 72 hours from twin mainspring barrels.

  • Finish: untreated German silver three-quarter plate, screwed gold chatons, hand-engraved balance cock.

Lange assembles each movement twice. The first assembly checks function. Lange then takes the movement apart, cleans it, and finishes the parts by hand. The second assembly is final.

What a 206.025 replica is

Copy builders start from a generic movement. Common bases are a Chinese hand-wound caliber or a Japanese automatic. Some copies use a Swiss ETA or Sellita. None of these are Lange calibers. None carry the L121.1 layout.
